Our websites

noiserun.com tells you about Noiserun and its offer for businesses. It has no cookies and no third-party content. To know how many people visit it, each page view is counted once: the page address, the website you came from (domain only), campaign tags in the link (utm_…), the type of device and browser, and a daily visitor code – a keyed hash of your IP address and browser identifier whose key changes every day and is then deleted, so it can’t be traced back or linked to other days. Your IP address and full browser identifier are not stored. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing how our website is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); nothing is stored on your device, so no permission is needed. We keep these counts long-term for statistics. Besides that, only the server logs described below. Your browser only remembers your light or dark choice there (and a marker that you were moved to the new app address). Sound previews on it are generated in your browser and nothing is sent to us. Links from it to the app carry a campaign tag (for example utm_source=landing), so the app’s statistics can tell that a visit came from our website.

If you are signed in to the app in the same browser, noiserun.com asks the app what you already have (Premium, packs, scenes), so it does not offer it to you again. Your browser sends the app’s own sign-in cookie with that request; the answer stays in your browser and nothing is stored or counted.

play.noiserun.com is the app. Everything below about usage statistics, paired screens and data on your device applies to the app.

What we process and why

1. Server logs

When your browser loads Noiserun, our web server records the IP address, time, requested address, browser identifier (user agent) and referring page. We use this to keep the service secure and to fix problems. Legal basis: our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Logs are deleted after at most 5 weeks.

2. Usage statistics

The app sends us records of what happens in it: which sound plays and for how long, pause, volume, sleep timer, which sections and items you open or see, what you search for (we drop anything that looks like an e-mail address or a long number), errors and loading times. Each record carries:

Without your permission nothing is stored in your browser for statistics and we can’t tell whether two visits came from the same person (unless you are signed in, see “Technical log” in section 6). Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding which sounds people use and improving the app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time by writing to us.

With your permission (“Allow” above or in the app), your browser keeps a random device ID (noiserun.aid in local storage) for up to 13 months. It lets us connect your visits on this device, for example to see which sounds people listen to before they decide to buy. We connect these statistics to your account only if you turn that on (see “Your account” below). Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 109(8) of the Slovak Electronic Communications Act). You can withdraw it here at any time: the ID is deleted from your device and new records are no longer connected to it.

Trying out improvements. Sometimes we show part of the visits a slightly different version of the app, for example a sleep timer that starts by itself at night, and compare which version works better. Which version you get is decided from a random key that the app keeps only until you close the tab (noiserun.expKey in session storage), or from your device ID if you allowed statistics, so the version stays the same. The version is sent with the visit statistics described above. You can always change or turn off what it does, for example the timer.

We keep these records long-term in pseudonymous form for statistical purposes (Art. 89 GDPR), because what is useful to measure changes over time. We never use them to find out who you are; the only exception is the technical log of signed-in devices (section 6), which we use to find and fix problems. If you ask us to delete your data, we remove the link between the records and your device ID or account.

3. Data that stays on your device

To work, the app keeps a few things in your browser. We don’t need permission for this and our server doesn’t read it: settings (volume, theme, dimming, mute), recently played sounds, your Library additions, cart and demo unlocks (in session storage, cleared when you close the app), your choice about statistics (noiserun.consent), the screen pairing (until you disconnect), and files cached for offline use. If you sign in, a cookie (__Host-nrsid) keeps this browser signed in; it contains only a random key and is used for nothing else. The app also remembers which account this device’s Library was last merged with (noiserun.libUser), so it isn’t merged twice; it is deleted when you sign out.

4. Pairing a screen

When you pair a screen (a TV, computer or tablet at noiserun.com/pair), our server stores the pairing (random IDs and a key) and what is playing, so the screen can follow your phone. Unused pairings are deleted after 30 days. To limit guessing of pairing codes, we keep a keyed hash of the IP address of wrong attempts for one hour.

5. Contact forms and e-mail

When you write to us through the contact form or by e-mail, we process your e-mail address, name (if you give it), the topic and your message, only to reply and to handle your request. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you, or steps you asked for before a contract (Art. 6(1)(f) and (b) GDPR). We keep the conversation until your request is resolved, at most 2 years. To stop automated spam, the form briefly keeps a keyed hash of your IP address in server memory (one hour) and uses a hidden field; there is no CAPTCHA and no third-party service.

Report a problem. When you send a report from the app, we receive your message, your e-mail address if you give it (if you are signed in, the report belongs to your account instead), the app version, the type of browser, system and device, the screen size, which scene and panel were open, and the records of that visit described in section 2, so we can see what happened before the report. If you allowed statistics, the report also carries your device ID. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you and fixing the problem (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We keep reports for 3 years.

The inquiry forms on noiserun.com/spaces and noiserun.com/business ask for your name, your venue or company, e-mail, the type of venue and number of locations (Spaces) or the plan and size of your team (Business), and your message. We use them only to reply and prepare an offer (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, steps before a contract, and Art. 6(1)(f), our legitimate interest in answering business inquiries). The message is sent to our mailbox and nothing is stored on the website. We keep the conversation at most 2 years, or as long as the law requires if we sign a contract. The form uses the same spam protection as the contact form.

6. Your account

When you sign in, we send a one-time code and link to your e-mail address. There is no password. The code and link work once, for 15 minutes. Your account is created the first time you sign in, or by us when you ask us to (for example to receive a gift).

For your account we keep:

Technical log. When you are signed in, the records described in section 2 that come from your devices (which scene played and when, pauses, errors, app version, type of device) are also linked to your account for 3 years. We use this only to find and fix problems, for example when you tell us something doesn’t work or a code didn’t give what it should, and to stop misuse. Only the people in our team who handle support can see it, and every time someone looks, it is logged. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a working and secure service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). After 3 years the link to your account is deleted; the records stay without it, as described in section 2. You can object by writing to us.

Linking statistics to your account (optional, off by default). If you turn on “Link usage statistics to my account” in the app, the usage statistics described above (section 2) from devices where you are signed in carry a random account code instead of being anonymous. This lets us understand listening across your devices and over years, for example which sounds people keep coming back to. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Turning it off stops linking new records right away. Records linked before stay with the random code; when you delete your account, the connection between that code and you is deleted, so they can no longer be traced back to you.

Purchases. For every purchase we keep a purchase record: the purchase ID (like NR-K7QM-X4TB), your e-mail address, what you bought and the price, when and how you paid, the payment reference, a copy of your billing details at that time (if you filled them in) and whether you asked for access to start right away. We send you a purchase confirmation by e-mail. Anyone who has the purchase ID, for example your accountant, can check the purchase at play.noiserun.com/receipt: the page shows only whether it is paid or refunded, the items, amounts and date, and your e-mail address partly hidden. Legal basis: the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legal obligation to keep accounting records (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR). Slovak accounting law requires us to keep records of sales for 10 years after the year of the sale, so purchase records stay for that time even when you delete your account; they are then no longer linked to an account.

Legal basis: providing the account you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and, for the logs, our legitimate interest in keeping accounts secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We keep your account until you delete it. To delete it, open the app, tap the profile icon and choose Delete account, or write to us. Deleting removes everything listed above right away, except purchase records (see Purchases). Only the count of how many times a code was used stays, without any link to you.

Payments in the app are not available yet. Until then, purchases are paid by bank transfer or invoice and we record them. When payments in the app launch, Paddle will handle them as the reseller of record, and this page will explain what changes.

7. Noiserun through your organisation

If your employer, school or another organisation gives you Noiserun, its admins invite you by your email address, or you join by signing in with an address from the organisation’s email domain. For this we process your email address, your role in the organisation (member, curator or admin) and when you were invited, joined or left. The organisation’s admins see this list, so they can manage their licence; Noiserun staff see it too.

The organisation never sees what you listen to, when, or for how long. It sees only totals for the whole organisation, and only when they cover at least 5 people: how many people joined and used Noiserun in the last 30 days and, from people who chose to link their statistics to their account, total listening hours, the most listened sound characters and the time of day. Nothing about a single person.

Legal basis: providing the service your organisation arranged for you (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). You can leave the organisation in your account at any time; your account, Library and purchases stay yours. When the licence ends or you leave, scenes from the licence lock again. The organisation’s own contact and billing details are company data that its admins manage in the organisation portal.

Who else handles data

Noiserun runs on a server we rent in a data center in Hungary (EU). Data from the website and the app stays there and is not transferred outside the EU. Sign-in e-mails are sent from that server directly to your e-mail provider; no e-mail service handles them for us.

E-mails you send us (including contact form messages) are stored in our mailbox on that server, and a copy is forwarded to our Gmail inbox so no request is missed. Google LLC (USA) handles these copies; the transfer relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

Your rights

You can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, a copy in a portable format, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest or withdraw consent at any time. If you allowed statistics, include the device ID shown above so we can find your records. For your account, write from its e-mail address or tell us which address it uses. Write to privacy [at] noiserun.com or use the contact form; we answer within one month. You can also complain to the Slovak data protection authority (Úrad na ochranu osobných údajov Slovenskej republiky, dataprotection.gov.sk) or the authority where you live.

For people in the United States

We don’t sell or share personal information and don’t use it for targeted advertising. We honor Global Privacy Control. Everyone gets the same rights described above, wherever they live.

Children

Noiserun is not directed at children under 16 and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

Changes

When this page changes, the date at the top changes too. If we change what the statistics question covers, the app asks you again.
